Tallgrass Film Association

The Tallgrass Film Association is a cornerstone of Wichita’s cultural scene, best known for hosting Kansas’s largest independent film festival annually since 2003. Operating year-round from its film center in the Lux, it screens diverse films and fosters community engagement through events like themed screenings (e.g., "Spaceballs" or "Baby Mama" for Mother’s Day). What sets it apart is its **#StubbornlyIndependent** ethos, offering a platform for emerging and established filmmakers alike, with a focus on inclusivity—evidenced by awards like the Gordon Parks Award for Black Excellence in Filmmaking. The festival attracts global talent and local audiences, creating an intimate, conversational atmosphere where Oscar winners mingle with aspiring creators.
